GB’s female Trap shooters placed third in the Team event at the European Championships in Hungary. Burton misses individual medal by single target.

The team of Kirsty Barr, Abbey Burton and Charlotte Kerwood cumulatively scored 202ex225, with a three-way tie with San Marino and Spain broken on countback.

Gold and Silver were also decided on countback with Italy edging Germany, both scoring 204.

Abbey Burton also came agonisingly close to a medal in the individual event. Having qualified for the six-athlete semi-finals, she sat in 3rd when the bottom two shooters were eliminated at the halfway mark, leaving four athletes to fight over the medals. Initially holding her form, she went clean on the first 8 of her 15 shots, before struggling in the second half and allowing Slovakian Zuzana Stefecekova to draw level, before edging ahead to take the Bronze 12 points to 11.

Results for both the Men’s and Women’s events are at the European Shooting Confederation website.
