Ken Parr edged Jack Bale to the Men’s title.
Katie Gleeson was crowned British Women’s Air Rifle Champion at the weekend, leading Sharon Lee by a margin of just 0.2 in a dramatic final. After eliminating Hannah Pugsley in Bronze Medal position Sharon led by a comfortable margin of 1.3 points, which she extended with the penultimate shot to 1.7. Katie held her nerve however, lasering in a solid 10.4 for her final shot, whilst Sharon loosed an 8.5 – by far her worst shot not just of the final but of the day. That shot was decisive, with Katie making up 1.9 points, and overtaking Sharon to take the lead by 198.7 to 198.5.
Ken Parr had a much steadier final. Starting mid-table after his first string, his consistency saw him float comfortably into the medals, sparring with Jack Bale for the top spot. A last-shot wobble saw him put out a 9.9 to Jack’s 10.4, but it wasn’t enough to change the order, finishing 201.7 to 201.3. James Paterson claimed Bronze, with 176.4, seeing off Paul Gillou.
